Following extensive review, BodyArmorNews.com is proud to announce the finalists for the 2026 Body Armor Innovation Award.
From an initial pool of seventeen global submissions, our panel of industry experts selected four entries that embody the true spirit of body armor. Each entry was rigorously evaluated on four key pillars: Innovation, Practical Relevance, Technical Execution, and Impact on Operator Safety.
The following finalists have demonstrated exceptional ingenuity in addressing the evolving needs of law enforcement, military, and civilian safety.
The 2026 Finalists
1. Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) | ENFORCR® H.A.L.O. X Carrier
The ENFORCR® H.A.L.O. X stands out for its mission-specific modularity. Designed for the fluid nature of modern law enforcement, it features a patent-pending laser-cut MOLLE layout and integrated microclimate-regulating padding to combat heat stress. Its primary strength lies in its scalable architecture, which allows it to seamlessly transition from a low-profile soft armor configuration to a full-scale heavy tactical setup without compromising operators’ range of motion.
2. Logistik Unicorp Inc. | Women’s Armour System
Addressing a critical gap in the industry, Logistik Unicorp utilized advanced 3D anthropometric scanning to develop an armor system specifically for the female form. Moving beyond unisex designs, this system incorporates specialized plate curvatures and stretch-integrated carriers. The result is a breakthrough in ballistic coverage and ergonomic comfort, ensuring female operators no longer have to sacrifice protection for fit.
3. Franz Barta GmbH | Laser Etch Transfer Labels
Innovation is not always about the plates; it is often about the integrity of the system. Franz Barta GmbH has developed a permanent, NIJ 0101.07-compliant labeling solution using heat transfer technology. By embedding serial numbers and compliance data directly into the fabric, they have eliminated the hot spots and chafing caused by traditional sewn-in tags. These labels are designed to remain legible and intact through the harshest service environments, ensuring long-term fleet management and safety compliance.
4. Bodyguard Concealed Armor Systems | Armored Backpacks and Jackets
Bodyguard brings high-level protection to the civilian and first-responder markets with their patented Switchblade Deployment System. This innovation allows a standard-looking backpack to transform into a full-coverage ballistic vest in under two seconds. Bodyguard provides a discreet yet high-speed solution for unpredictable high-threat scenarios, bridging the gap between everyday carry and immediate tactical defense.
