Police sought public help to find the vest, which went missing from Cairns after a busy New Year’s Eve shift.
A missing police bullet proof vest has turned up in another police vehicle.
They were unsure if it had been misplaced or stolen, and warned the public that deliberately keeping the vest could result in fines under Queensland’s weapons act.
Police on Monday said the vest had been found.
‘Inquiries have ascertained the vest was being used in another police vehicle and was operationally deployed on this particularly busy New Year’s Eve,’ a statement said.
‘Cairns police are reviewing their equipment sign out procedures.’
