NATO Chooses for EnGarde Body Armor
AMSTERDAM, October 18 /PRNewswire/ --

ISAF, the International Security Assistance Task Force, has the primary responsibility of providing a safe and secure environment in Afghanistan to facilitate reconstruction of critical components. ISAF plays a key role in supporting organizations such as UN agencies, International organizations and NGOs so that they can execute their tasks safely and more efficiently.

NATO assumed command of ISAF which is backed by more than 37 nations and consists of over 31,000 troops. Given the hostile environment in Afghanistan, despite efforts to ameliorate the conditions, ISAF troops are still at high risk for casualties. ISAF recently requested new armor for its ground personnel expecting no compromises in terms of quality.

EnGarde body armor, one of the fastest growing and well respected manufacturers has won the tender offer and has supplied ISAF with its light-weight advanced bullet proof vests.

Wearing proper body armor is proven to reduce fatalities and injuries. The executive decision to choose EnGarde's body armor was based on the need for a light weight, reliable and comfortable vest. "If the vests are not worn due to inconvenience, the efforts are rather futile."

EnGarde vests consist of panels made with an advance fiber called Dyneema(R). The fiber is a super strong polyethylene material which offers maximum strength combined with minimum weight. It's at least 15 times stronger than quality steel and up to 40% stronger than Aramid fibers (Kevlar).

Additionally the vests are equipped with 3D curved hard armor inserts which can withstand multiple hits from automatic rifle fire. The combination of comfort with outstanding ballistic properties makes EnGarde vests most effective and thus in high demand.

"We do regularly supply press teams which are going into Afghanistan but we are very proud that an international body such as ISAF chooses for our vests for the protection of their personnel," says Edgar Stek, international sales manager of EnGarde. EnGarde body armor is rapidly expanding on an international level. The company's headquarters are based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and serves clients worldwide providing state-of-the-art body armor products.
